Commercial Roof Package, Tooting

A commercial flat roof package delivered on a constrained high street site in Tooting, working alongside a light gauge steel frame superstructure and a tower crane. The build-up was installed in sequence across large roof areas, with upstands, gutter lines and perimeter details completed as each bay was closed in.

Challenge

A tight urban site surrounded by occupied buildings, with roof areas at multiple levels, an active steel frame above and all materials arriving by crane. Large expanses of deck had to be kept watertight while the superstructure continued around them.

Approach

The roof was broken into bays and sequenced so each area moved from deck to vapour barrier, insulation and capping membrane without leaving open build-up overnight. Crane lifts, material storage on the deck and edge protection were planned with the frame and scaffold programme, and every upstand, gutter and penetration was detailed before the area was signed off.

Result

The roof areas shown were closed in as a continuous, fully detailed system, with gutter lines, upstands and perimeters completed and the deck left protected for the following trades.
